ALCAIDESA MARINA HOISTS ITS THIRTEENTH BLUE FLAG
29 July 2024
Last Thursday, July 18th, Alcaidesa Marina hoisted the blue flag for the thirteenth consecutive year.
Joining us in this significant event, as obtaining this award granted by ADEAC (Association for Environmental Education and the Consumer) represents the renewal of our commitment to the environment, environmental education, safety, and accessibility, were the Honorable Mayor of La Línea de la Concepción, Mr. Juan Franco, accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism, Ms. Mercedes Atanet, and the Delegate for Business Development, Mr. Alfonso Lozano, Mr. Javier Cobos representing the Sustainability Department of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, and Mr. Daniel Rodríguez Ruiz, Coordinator of the Office of the Deputy Government Delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in the Campo de Gibraltar, to whom we extend our gratitude for their attendance.
The Mayor emphasized the importance of receiving this recognition and congratulated the marina manager, Mr. José Antonio Valbuena, and all the staff of Alcaidesa Marina for their efforts and for making it possible to have facilities of this level in the Municipality, thanking the Junta de Andalucía and the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras for rowing in the same direction so that La Línea de la Concepción can be known for positive reasons like this one.
For his part, Mr. José Antonio Valbuena, director of Alcaidesa Marina, shared his joy at obtaining the blue flag, stating that it is another “ratification of the commitment to quality, sustainability, and environmental protection of our marina.” This distinction adds to the renewal of the European “5 Gold Anchors” award, which classifies marinas by the quality of their facilities and services, in which Alcaidesa Marina has been a pioneer in Spain since 2014. Mr. José Antonio reiterated the importance of collaboration between public and private institutions to address global issues in social, economic, and environmental sustainability and pointed out this award as another clear example of how local actions can have a significant global impact.
Mr. Javier Cobos highlighted the quality of services the marina offers, reaffirming the support of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras to the concessionary companies that promote such actions contributing to the environmental improvement of the port area.
