Event on the marine environment and fishing heritage

The Acorrucarte 2022 Event on the Marine Environment and Fishing Heritage will be held in La Línea de la Concepción throughout October.

The new edition of the month-long event was presented last Tuesday by the  Ayuntamiento de La Línea. The activities are organised by the Council working in collaboration with the Department of Ecological Transition and Sustainable Urban Development of the Provincial Council of Cadiz and the Campus of International Excellence of the Sea (Ceimar), the University of Cadiz and the patronage of our marina  Alcaidesa Marina.

This event began on Saturday 1st October, with a Children’s Photography Competition in Alcaidesa Marina and the Paseo Marítimo de Poniente. In addition, there was a beach cleaning drive on the Poniente coastline, on Los Manolos beach and a Cartoonists’ Meeting, focusing on the sea, the port, the boats and the city’s landscapes.

Furthermore, a flea market was held to celebrate the start of Acorrucarte 2022, with a total of 30 stalls of local craftsmen and traders, as well as a clean-up of the seabed in Alcaidesa Marina, which aimed to raise awareness among the town’s residents.

Also in the morning, the  Asociación Reiniciarte organised an activity called ExplayArte, as well as a Children’s Gymkhana, in collaboration with the Athletics School of La Línea de la Concepción, and a talk for children on “Cetaceans and the Great Threat of Plastic” (Cetáceos y la gran amenaza del plástico), given by the biologist and environmental educator from  Ecolocaliza, Estefanía Martín Moreno.

At 2:00 pm, the “I Pasacalles Batucada Tabalirea” took place. In the afternoon, there was another talk, this time on “Protected Spaces and Sites: Watch out for the Waste We Generate” (Espacios y especies protegidas: ¡Ojo a los Residuos que Generamos!), aimed at both children and adults and delivered by Francesca Viladecans.

At 6:00 pm, we exhibited the drawings produced at the Cartoonists’ Meeting, also in Alcaidesa Marina. Half an hour later, we gave way to the “II Batucada Tabalirea” and at 7:00 pm the prizes for the Children’s Photography Competition and the Children’s Gymkhana were awarded.

The day ended with a concert by La Tourné.
